Polk County Coordinator

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or two years related work/volunteer experience

  • Knowledge about domestic violence and sexual abuse

  • Experience in public speaking preferred

  • Must have reliable transportation and current auto insurance as required by the State of Texas

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Development:

  • Work with Community Relations Director in the development of a strategic plan for education and awareness in all service counties, utilizing media, speaking engagements, brochures, etc.

  • Participate in the development of specific plans and goals to accomplish service needs

  • Develop printed materials to promote awareness (presentations handouts, brochures, etc.) of family violence and sexual abuse issues

Community Education:

  • Maintain and enhance community awareness regarding the mission, services, and needs of SAAFE House through a strategic plan that uses a variety of mediums which reflect the diversity within the communities we serve (to include educational sessions, professional trainings, social and print media, etc).

  • Develop and implement presentations and programs that enhance community awareness about family violence and sexual assault related issues.

  • Assist Education Coordinator in providing primary prevention education in Walker, Polk, San Jacinto and Trinity counties using presentations, special events, and public awareness campaigns.

  • Work with the Education Coordinator to implement community events & programs that highlight special awareness months, most specifically Domestic Violence Awareness Month (October) and Sexual Assault Awareness Month (April).

  • Maintain records of speaking engagement schedules, presenters, and materials

Community Events:

  • Work with the Events Coordinator to coordinate and implement fundraising activities in Polk and San Jacinto counties

  • Serve as a local liaison for Polk County events being conducted on our behalf.

  • Maintain records of Polk County event details, to include donor records, ticket sales, and venders used

  • Assist with development and management of a fundraising budget

  • Assist in evaluating the cost effectiveness of our events.

  • Work with the Community Relations Director and Events Coordinator to ensure continual contact with SAAFE House supporters, to include newsletter mailings, e-mailings, social media, and timely letters of appreciation and recognition for contributions given.

  • Assist in researching new resources within the community to help fund and support the organization

Administrative:

  • Answer phones and transfer calls/relay messages to appropriate parties

  • Greet clients/visitors to the SAAFE House office

  • Receive, inventory, and process donation from the public

  • Maintain donation processing records

  • Go to post office regularly and pick up mail from box

  • Sort and log mail and distribute to appropriate individuals

Program Support:

  • Attend meetings pertinent to job performance

  • Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to schedule and prepare volunteers to work agency sponsored/supported community events

  • Adopt and practice the agency model of open, honest, and ethical communication and communicate effectively with clients and other staff members

Public Relations:

  • Assist the Community Relations Director and Education Coordinator in serving as a spokesperson to the community

  • Assist the Community Relations Director and Education Coordinator in maintaining a positive relationship with other agencies, community representatives, funders and professional organizations

  • Attend agency sponsor community events as needed

Volunteer Management:

  • Complete all paperwork and reports necessary to maintain compliance with agency policies and procedures.

  • Compile volunteer statistic reports for different granters and internal reports

  • Oversee the functions of all volunteers and provide backup services as needed

  • Effectively recruit, train, evaluate, monitor, and dismiss agency volunteers

  • Facilitate regularly scheduled meetings to connect volunteers with each other and the agency

Building and Equipment Maintenance:

  • Assist in maintenance of agency equipment

  • Assist in maintaining building safety

Personal Skills:

  • Ability to be flexible and change duties with short notice as needed

  • Ability to understand and comply with confidentiality policies

  • Ability to actively listen to needs of volunteers and organization

  • Ability to remain calm while coping with crisis situations

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload

  • Ability to organize personal work area

  • Requires good verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently without supervision

Physical and Sensory:

  • Ability to walk, stand, kneel, push, stoop, reach above the shoulder, bend repeatedly, grasp, pull, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, lift and carry under 45 lbs., perceive depth, operate a motor vehicle and operate motor equipment

  • Conditions include working closely with others, working alone, working while children are playing close by, working protracted or irregular hours

Resale Associate

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • Retail experience preferred

  • Bilingual preferred

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Serve as Resale Associate to include:

  • Prepare donated items for sale to include sorting and steaming as needed

  • Price items for resale

  • Neatly display items in appropriate racks/shelves on retail floor

  • Maintain general cleanliness and basic maintenance of the resale and reception areas on a daily basis

  • Assist customers in locating merchandise

  • Check out customer merchandise

  • Open, close, and balance cash drawer on a daily basis

  • Verify outgoing donation records for client service advocates and volunteers

Program Support:

  • Attend training approved by the Resale Manager and/or the Community Relations Director to maintain proficiency in job responsibilities

  • Attend meetings pertinent to job performance

  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of a job manual specific to the functions and procedures of the resale shop

  • Assist in an annual inventory of Elite Repeat

  • Manage and submit documentation of hours worked in accordance with agency policies

  • Adopt and practice the agency model of open, honest, and ethical communication and communicate effectively with clients, customers, and other staff members

  • Assist in the rotation of displayed items in the Elite Repeat display window

Public Relations:

  • Ensure quality customer service in all interaction with general public

  • Attend agency sponsor community events as needed

Personal Skills:

  • Ability to understand and comply with confidentiality policies

  • Requires good verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload

  • Ability to organize work area

LPC-Intern

(Polk County)

Qualifications

  • Licensed Counselor, LPC (I)

  •   Work/volunteer experience in social services  

  • Must have reliable transportation and current auto insurance as required by the State of Texas

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  •  Provide intake sessions assessing an individual’s eligibility for services

  • Provide information and referrals relevant to each individual’s situation

  •  Responsible for providing crisis intervention and support services to survivors to include accompaniment, counseling sessions, transportation, emergency medical care, and immediate access to residential services

  •  Provide clinical support and feedback to Crisis Intervention Advocacy Team during case-management meetings

  •  Schedule counseling sessions to also allow for office coverage and on call service as needed

  • Check and sign timesheets and check service logs for accuracy

  • Assist in compiling monthly, quarterly reports in accordance with agency policies and procedures

Residential Advocates-

(Polk County)

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Two years previous work/volunteer experience, performed at a minimum of 20 hours/week

  • Previous experience in client services preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred

  • Bilingual preferred

  • Must have reliable transportation and current auto insurance as required by the State of Texas

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain confidentiality of client information and shelter locations

  • Maintain 24 hour hotline, providing crisis intervention and support services

  • Participate in the ongoing case management of residential clients to include goal setting and action planning, evaluating client progress, and working with clients to identify needed resources and/or options

  • Provide information to clients about family violence and sexual assault dynamics and healing processes

  • Provide information to clients about basic life skills, addiction management, healthy relationships, parenting, budgeting, and other needed tools

  • Use crisis intervention and peer support techniques to facilitate recovery from abuse, decrease the effects of experienced trauma, address negative feelings and behaviors, aide in clients’ own self awareness, and resolve both interpersonal and interpersonal conflict
