Meet The Board Members

President
Sue Badrak
Sue is a LPC
Sue is a retired Professional Counselor and Marriage and Family Therapist. She has worked for over 40 years with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, in both her private practices and non-profit agencies. She has developed multiple programs and manuals and has served on numerous boards and committees.
When she moved from Sugarland to Huntsville, Sue looked for opportunities to apply her skills. She happened upon SAAFE House at a fundraising event and became interested in volunteering. Soon, she was urged to apply for the Board of Directors and has ben serving since 2020.
Sue also holds a degree in education from Eastern Michigan University and taught Special Education for emotionally disturbed and autistic children.
Sue lives in Elkins Lake with her husband Bob, her Grandniece Allison and their dog Jasper

Bill is a Business Owner
About Me
Bill currently serves as Commissioner for Precinct 3 in Walker County. Prior to that, he worked 26 years at the City of Huntsville, leaving in 2008 as the Director of Public Works. He attended Sam Houston State University and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Political Science and Finance. Bill is married to Debra and they have three children, all of which served their country in the US Military.

Terri Coleman is a Realtor

Everyday I Strive to epitomize, integrity, energy, and hard work in every detail As an active member of my community, I am a Board member for SAAFE House in Walker County.

Ruth Webb
Ruth is a Retired Legal Secretary
Ruth is a retired legal secretary from Dallas, where she worked 37 years at major Texas-based law firm. She spent the last nine years at Winstead as an administrative assistant in the executive department. When Ruth relocated to Texas Grand Ranch in Huntsville, her focus shifted to charitable and civic causes. She collects charity donations in TGR for multiple nonprofits, coordinates a number of blood drive programs in Walker County, supports local fundraising events, and participates in various church projects.

Karen Denman
Karen is a Loan Officer
Karen Denman is a lifelong resident of Huntsville. She has served on many local boards and currently serves on the SAAFE House Board as well as Treasurer for the Walker County Area Go Texan Committee. She has worked in the financial services industry for over 30 years and currently serves as Senior Loan Officer for Walker County Federal Credit Union as well as holding a real estate license as an agent for HITTSS Solutions, LLC.
Karen has a servant’s heart and is dedicated and committed to serving the citizens of Huntsville alongside the current council to continue to position Huntsville for the future.
In her spare time, Karen loves to volunteer for all events serving a good cause, she loves to travel to tropical destinations, and a good book is always within reach. She has one daughter, Jordyn Denman.

Barbara Justice
Barbara is a Director of Retail Operations
Barbara is a Business Engagement Representative with Dynamic Workforce Solutions, Brand Ambassador with Three International and manages two home-based businesses, namely Asset Protection with Justice and Legal Shield with Justice.
She earned a BBA from the University of Houston-Downtown; Master’s degrees in Administration of Justice/Criminal Justice from the University of Phoenix, Baton Rouge, LA; and Certification in Community-Based Mediation from South Texas School of Law, Houston, TX.
Her volunteerism includes Polk County/Livingston Chamber of Commerce Ambassador President; San Jacinto County Democratic Party Events Coordinator, San Jacinto County Election Judge and Precinct Chair; and Polk/San Jacinto County NAACP Scholarship Director. As a board member, she represents the SAAFE House in Polk and San Jacinto Counties. Barbara, a survivor of cancer and warrior against domestic violence, is dedicated to SAAFE House’s mission to empower victims of family violence and sexual assault. She follows the stance of: “Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass; it is about learning to dance in the rain. Your TRUE character comes out when you overcome the STRUGGLE”!

Bruce Lester
Bruce is a Swim Coach/ Contractor
On the first day of spring in 1960 Bruce Wayne (Batman) Lester was born on Galveston Island. Being "Born on the Island" makes him a B.O.I (boy). Both attributes have influenced his life in a good way. In the last 65 years he has acquired the following adjectives: Christian, athlete, life learner, teacher, coach, carpenter/contractor, handyman, husband,father,grandfather, Rotary supporter, and now board member for SAAFE House while striving to add author to the list. He was raised Christian then swam and played water polo in high school and for Texas A&M University becoming an All-American and more importantly getting his BS in kinesiology and in short order an MS degree in administration. The next chapter included over 20 years of teaching sciences and coaching. All the while he continued to increase his knowledge and skills as a carpenter, builder and handyman. Helping others to repair and save on keeping their homes and things in working order or improving their living situation is one of bruce's fulfillments. learning and reading are constant habits and he often consumes 3 or more books simultaneously comes from solving problems and building solutions like custom cabinets and furniture projects. His role as a SAAFE House board member is to provide practical knowledge as ideas and savings for expenditures to maintain the structures and business of SAAFE House. His plan for the next two years of his board presence is to serve on the FAcilities and Fund Development committees and help in any way possible.

Roxane Leach
Roxane is a Registered Nurse
Roxane became interested in help onboard of SAAFE House after a trip to pat's place in Lima, Peru . It is a very similar home as SAAFE House. Roxane is employed by Baylor Scott & White hospital as a RN/BSN. She has been a nurse for over 25 years. Roxane lives in Huntsville with her husband Joe who she married in 1985.
Her mother and her sister live with them along with mom's Golden Retriever and Roxane's 6 dachshund's. She is also a breeder of pure bred AKC Dachshunds. She is a Mother of 2 Boys, has 1 grandson and 1 granddaughter, along with 5 grandpuppies
