Position: Residential Advocate (3 openings)

Position Summary: Crisis intervention services in a confidential residential setting for victims of family violence and/or sexual abuse and their families. Job duties include answering of the 24-hour support line, screening clients for services, working directly with clients in crisis and managing household activities.

Qualifications: Experience in human services field preferred. Ability to work independently in stressful circumstances.

 

Position: Crisis Intervention Advocate

Position Summary: Responsible for service delivery to victims who have experienced or been affected by family violence and/or sexual abuse including crisis intervention and support services to aid in their recovery from the abuse. These services may be given in either individual or small group settings in both residential and outreach settings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide intake sessions assessing individual's eligibility for services and providing information and referrals relevant to each individual's situation.
Responsible for providing crisis intervention and support services to survivors in the form of accompaniment, emergency transportation, emergency medical care, immediate access to agency residential services, support groups, crisis intervention meetings and follow-up sessions.
Responsible for providing clinical support and supervision for crisis intervention team.
Provides play therapy to victims of abuse to aid in their recovery.
Responsible for donation maintenance including accepting, counting, and distributing donations to clients and the community.
Assist victims with resources and advocacy to facilitate their recovery from the abuse.
Provide legal information and assistance in the civil and criminal justice system to include information on obtaining crime victim compensation benefits and protective orders.
Provide personal accompaniment to include court and community resources.
Facilitate and develop education and support groups.
Provide information and training to individuals seeking employment.
Develop and keep current a formalized resource/referral system to community resources.
Provide daily documentation of client information, maintaining required statistical and administrative documentation for monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
Provide personal advocacy to include food, clothing, personal hygiene items and other donated items.
Participate in beeper rotation to provide 24-hour crisis intervention services.
Attend meetings pertinent to job performance.
Develop written materials to enhance client's knowledge and awareness of family violence/ sexual abuse issues.
Work with other community agencies and as part of a collaborative team to develop and implement comprehensive community wide services for victims of family violence and/or sexual abuse.

Qualifications: Masters in Counseling or Education, Licensed Counselor preferred, pending certification acceptable.
