Chances are
that you know someone who is being abused by her intimate partner.
You can help by...
· Talking to her about it. Ask questions, directly but gently
· Offering your emotional support by listening and remaining
calm
· Not demanding that she solves the problem as you would
· Letting her know that the abuse is not her fault
· Letting her know that there is help available if/when she chooses
to leave the relationship
· Letting her know that if she decides to stay, you will continue
to be her friend but that she and her children don't deserve to be abused
· Calling the police if you see or hear abuse in progress
· Learning more about domestic violence
and what services are available
· Getting involved in the work of your
local shelter
Women are not the only victims of sexual assault and domestic violence.
If you know anyone - male or female, young or old - who is being hurt
by these crimes, talk to them about it today.
