Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone, nothing kicks off the season better than “Giving Tuesday”. For those of you that are unfamiliar, Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving. One of the best ways to give back, is by reaching out to the charities in your community. For SAAFE House, that means getting our community members involved with some of the efforts we are taking, in order to help the families affected by Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. There are several ways of getting involved. We are currently working on our “Adopt A Family” program. We have out reach clients that are in need of assistance during the Christmas season. By participating in Adopt A Family, you are helping provide full and Merry Christmases to families truly in need of this service. We also have “Santa Sack” which allows you to provide toys for the children currently living in our shelters. Santa Sack is such a huge help for our shelter, as you know children tend to really cling to certain toys, and we try to always let the children keep that toy, when they leave. And lastly KSAM along with Mama Juanitas will be presenting the 10th Annual M*A*S*H (Make A Smile Happen) Toy & Food Drive, Wednesday & Thursday November 30th and December 1st, in the Shenanigans Parking Lot. They will be collecting non-perishable food items, and new, unwrapped toys for families who are struggling this holiday season. For more information regarding Adopt A Family or Santa Sack, please contact our Community Relations Director, Chasity Williams at (936)291-3529.
